I discovered an outstanding nut cracker design courtesy of ddchesser and made a few adjustments to it. I believe it makes for a wonderful gift. The original design had some hollow areas that surprisingly required more material and time than standard infill settings, so I eliminated those. Additionally, I opted for a flat base instead of the circular ones. It can be printed without support material.
