This component is engineered to join wooden spokes that are secured to a threaded rod axle by means of tightened locknuts. However, due to the inability of the nuts themselves to effectively distribute the radial stresses between the wheel and axle, this part may be manually slid over a locked nut and then fastened to the wheel using screws.
