The Nuevo Estadio in Badajoz is situated on Calle del Cine Madrid and had its grand opening on December 2, 1998. The first official game took place there when it hosted CD Badajoz against CF Extremadura and ended with a scoreless draw. This marked the start of Quini's scoring streak as he notched up his first goal in his career against CD Toledo in a subsequent match at the same venue, where CD Badajoz emerged victorious by a single goal courtesy of Carlos Torres' initial strike. This stadium saw significant action on September 9, 1999, hosting an important Euro 2000 qualifier between Spain and Cyprus. The outcome was overwhelmingly in favor of the Spanish team as they secured a crushing 8-0 victory. Measuring 105 meters by 68 meters in dimensions, the Nuevo Estadio features an impressive seating capacity for up to 14,500 spectators, effectively making it a formidable sporting destination. The stadium took over from the revered Vivero Stadium which held great historical value as a major sports venue in its time.
