Nurgle Armiger Pauldron
thingiverse
My stab at a Nurgle-themed Pauldron for Armor Bearer/Armiger - I wanted to create something that would make the most of this character's ability to buff their ally's combat prowess while also paying homage to the Plague God's twisted aesthetic. To achieve this, I designed the pauldron with a mix of dark, muted colors and bold, eye-catching symbols, drawing inspiration from various aspects of Nurgle's grimy cult. The main body of the pauldron is a deep, rich brown color, evoking the decaying flesh that covers the Plague God's sacred statues. This earthy tone provides an excellent backdrop for the intricate, swirling patterns that cover its surface - these are reminiscent of festering sores and boils, further solidifying the connection to Nurgle's disease-ridden realm. A prominent feature of this pauldron is the large, glowing red gemstone set into its center. This vibrant hue serves as a stark contrast to the duller tones surrounding it, drawing attention to the character's role as a protector and healer. The gemstone itself is shaped like a miniature plague doctor's beak, adding an air of macabre whimsy to the overall design. The pauldron's edges are adorned with delicate, curling filigree that resembles twisted vines or mold growth - these add a sense of organic, natural decay to the piece, as if it has been slowly unfolding from the very earth itself. This motif is repeated on the shoulder guards, where it takes on a more sinister tone, suggesting the character's connection to Nurgle's dark influence. Throughout the design, I've incorporated various symbols and icons associated with the Plague God - these include the familiar skull-and-crossbones motif, as well as representations of diseased organs and festering wounds. These elements serve to reinforce the pauldron's theme, creating a cohesive visual language that speaks to the character's role within the army. The final result is a piece that balances dark, foreboding aesthetic with a sense of twisted beauty - much like Nurgle himself, who finds solace in the midst of decay and suffering. This pauldron would be an excellent addition to any Chaos Lord or Sorcerer's arsenal, serving as a potent reminder of their allegiance to the Plague God and his twisted ideals.
