Nuptial sarcophagus with Castor and Pollux
myminifactory
In ancient Greek and Roman mythology, Castor and Pollux were two brothers united by blood but divided by fate. Their mother was Leda, a woman whose love life was marked by scandal; she had given birth to twins with different fathers - one mortal, the other divine. Castor, the son of Tyndareus, king of Sparta, lived a life as fragile as human existence, while Pollux, fathered by Zeus in his swan disguise, possessed a divine spark that set him apart from his sibling. Some accounts suggest they were born from an egg, along with their twin sisters or half-sisters, Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, the former destined for greatness, the latter for tragedy.
