Nuova Simonelli MCF Doserless Mod
thingiverse
This is a custom modification for the Nuova Simonelli MCF espresso machine, designed to eliminate the doser and replace it with a funnel. To achieve this, I manufactured all necessary parts without incorporating any supports, as my 3D printer struggles to produce accurate nylon filament extrusions. Subsequently, I used a Dremel rotary tool to enlarge the pre-printed holes, while a utility knife was employed to trim the grinds outlet to precise dimensions. The chute insert block, which restricts the flow of coffee grounds on the left side of the exit chute, necessitates some minor trimming before installation to ensure a snug fit. This design adjustment is crucial in minimizing grinder retention and clumping. In contrast, the funnel and lid components are printed with the underside facing upwards. To maintain the insert block's position within the assembly, I employed a retainer clip that can be securely fastened using an M6 bolt and nut. For optimal results, I recommend printing this component with the front side facing downwards. Lastly, the portafilter fork is attached to the grinder via an M6 bolt and nut configuration.
