Number of Shells Display

This display is part of an educational series created by me for the Arcade Library in Sacramento, designed to teach people about the basics of 3D printing. Explaining key concepts such as printing with supports and understanding the impact of shell number, resolution, infill percentage, and raft usage can be tricky. That's why visual aids are essential; they help make complex ideas clearer. A simple display like this one shows the effect of varying "shell number" settings on a print. Ten 1-inch cubes are printed with different settings: 1-5 shells on one row, followed by 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 shells on the next. By comparing these prints, you can easily see how shell number affects stability and translucency. There's enough space between each cube to squeeze them, allowing you to feel their flexibility or rigidity. This makes it easy to determine which shell setting is best for your project.
