About this Print

The Nullbits Nibble is an extremely fun keyboard project to build. It yields a very competent, very customizable product. So to augment mine, I decided to make a tray, a screen holder so I could locate the screen up at the top left, and a cover for the large RGB LED.

I also designed this case. It's little taller than necessary if you build it per the instructions, but it fits just fine. If you choose to socket the Microcontroller (MCU) it will also fit and the USB opening in the back will accommodate the additional height.

(Optional) Socketing the MCU

If you want to socket the MCU the way I did you'll need this socket and these header pins. You will also need taller stand-offs, I used this assortment to find the height I wanted.

Assembly

The tray attaches to the keyboard by utilizing the existing standoffs that will already be attached to the board. You will leave a few in and I hope that should be clear once it's printed out, but if not, please don't hesitate to leave a comment and ask a question.

To attach the tray to the keyboard, you will need M2 flat-head fasteners. Get one of the assortments like this one to make your life easier.

The screen holder just attaches to the existing standoff, but rotates freely. Once inside the case it's degrees of freedom are limited.

Finally, there's the little 1U cover I made for the large RGB LED option you can include on the keyboard. I did this mostly for effect, but it does look pretty neat on the finished board.

All that's left is to customize the keyboard software to perform all the tricks I want.

Printing Tips

The tray will print just fine without supports.

The RGB LED cover prints without supports.

The optional screen carrier should have supports from the base plates.

All parts are oriented as I had intended them to print, but you're welcome to approach the printing however you see fit.

Print files are sliced for PETG.
