# Nuka Cola Quantum Display Unit This is a decorative display unit for a Nuka Cola Quantum bottle. My design utilizes vibrant blue glow in the dark filament, UV LEDs, and a bottle filled with tonic water. **Note:** The two prototypes I created before printing in the glow-in-the-dark PLA had no issues sliding the bottle between the rocket fins, however the final piece offered a little resistance and cracked slightly (not in any way visible). I have not addressed this issue yet, but will do so if there is a call for it. I suspect the PLA was a bit more brittle than the others. ### Display Unit The display unit is crafted from blue glow-in-the-dark PLA. There are spaces for four 5mm LEDs that are angled to focus roughly on the top of the fluid within the bottle. ## Original Design My original design (ncq-display-unit-no-back-plate,stl) is a hollow shell, under which, LEDs can be wired and powered. There is no base plate, giving access to the underside. ## Updated Design The updated design (ncq-display-unit-top.stl) features a back panel providing a little interface for an [Arduino nano project](https://github.com/ippie52/NukaCola) I created to give interesting illumination patterns with the UV LEDs. This has a base plate, on which the electronics can be mounted, and two optional face plates. One face plate (ncq-face-plate.stl) has space for three 3mm LEDs indicating what mode the software is in (pattern, speed or brightness), and small buttons (for mode select, up and down). The other is blank, allowing you to modify it as you wish. ### Electronics The electronics description will be found on the github page soon! ### Software The Arduino code can be found on [github](https://github.com/ippie52/NukaCola). ### Bottle The bottle was simply an old glass Coca Cola bottle. I printed a free label and bottle cap, filled it with a mixture of tonic water (quinine glows under UV) with a tiny bit of blue Curaçao (for the blue tinge), then put a cap on the top.
