A nucleosome, eukaryotes' fundamental DNA packaging unit, features eight histone protein cores wrapped with a DNA segment like thread on a spool. This model is based on Protein Data Bank entry 1KX5 and includes separate STL files for the protein and DNA components. Created using VMD software, it was successfully made on a Replicator 2 with MakerWare 2.2.2.89 in standard resolution with 25% infill, three shells, raft, and supports. Attaching the DNA model to the histone complex may be tricky; superglue can help fix it in place.
