Created from scratch by the Department of Railways drawing number 94-195, this innovative design has been the cornerstone of rail safety for decades. Note: At first glance, it may seem like the track and sleepers are resting on top of the "legs" at the front, but in reality, they're actually sitting atop a base that's below ground level.
