Novena - CPU fan duct
thingiverse
A custom two-piece print that forms a CPU fan duct specifically designed for the Novena board comes glued together with the fan securely attached, its airflow directed downward for optimal performance. The photos clearly demonstrate the print's design flexibility as evidenced in the last two images where it showcases a 25mmx25mmx10mm fan, although it's meant to use a smaller 25x25x6.9mm fan which easily fits inside a standard Novena case and significantly shortens its height by approximately 2mm below that of the Ethernet ports yet stays beneath the GPBB pins. To assemble this custom fan duct correctly you need to carefully detach and flip the existing heatsink around, finding removal straightforward with gentle twisting motion. I employed the following compact fan: http://www.digikey.ca/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&itemSeq=170037193&uq=635641349248190005 Instructions for Assembling Your Custom Fan Duct The entire design comprises two distinct parts which when assembled along with the chosen 25mmx25mmx6.9mm fan result in a single solid assembly as evident from multiple photos. The print itself features specific tabs for attaching the heatsink in precise position ensuring seamless integration and perfect alignment with motherboard screw mounts using freshly applied thermal paste for effective CPU cooling. Note that although designed for convenient attachment via provided screws, you might need to remove them post-assemblage due to obstructing access of SD card holder area.
