When burying themselves, their porous hide adheres to the ground covering it, allowing most of the flora to continue to grow as normal. As a dredge ages it adds more layers of sedimentary rocks, interwoven by its vast reaching, root-like nervous system. Taking rest in well traveled areas, the dredge looks for locations with limited water supply to increase the odds of an encounter. These enormous creatures will create a large pit in their back that fills with water and other bodily fluids to attract anything living with a hope to drown and consume it, just as the putrefaction process begins.
