A fragment of the historic whaling vessel Nova Zembla lies hidden beneath the sand on the rugged shores of Baffin Island. Abandoned since 1902 when it struck a submerged reef and met its watery grave, a miracle of survival unfolded as every member of the ill-fated crew managed to escape the doomed ship unscathed.
