Not-so-Parametric Jar Box
thingiverse
This is a versatile design, capable of scaling up or down to suit various needs. All you need to do is attach the top cap and you're good to go. But why build this in the first place? Imagine surprising your girlfriend on Valentine's day with one of these geared hearts inside - that's what makes it truly special. Don't forget to turn it vertically and get creative with it. I'd love to see intricate designs, but my patience wears thin when it comes to turning petals into lacework or scrimshawing the exterior. Update 1: I attempted to print the first version, but had to scale it down to 50% due to space constraints (200mm cubed). Unfortunately, the gaps between the petals were too narrow and merged during printing. The hinges also turned out too weak. Version 2 (as promised, this is a work in progress): I abandoned parametric design altogether and scaled down the base size to accommodate most printers. I rotated the models for better viewing, increased petal spacing, and strengthened the hinges. A second file with pins and caps is included, which should be printed at 100% infill. This is crucial because the hinges need extra support. Once you've finished printing all parts, insert the pins into the hinges and attach the caps using glue.
