"Not A Gooseneck" System
thingiverse
An adjustable and flexible mounting system designed for light-duty applications is required to adapt various types of accessories securely in place. This project utilizes seven lengths of high-strength solid copper wire (AWG 12 gauge), secured tightly together with zip-ties that are preferably tightened using a tool, then attached to a section of one-half inch PVC pipe with reliable hose clamps. Heavy-duty PVC pipes sections should be fixed securely to printed parts with screws as necessary. This adaptable device holds its shape surprisingly well but must be regarded as a temporary solution. It is suitable for various purposes such as lights, fans, alligator clips, decorations and functional objects. In conjunction with the PVC pipe construction set, this setup provides an effective means of attachment. UPDATE 2-Feb-15: Using the "base1" design and properly shaping heavy wire results in a serviceable holder that can accommodate a few pairs of safety sunglasses or sun glasses keys jewelry accessories and other small items.
