This 3D capture, shown here in low resolution, was part of a multi-site solar proposal that showcased its potential to streamline the planning process. The 3D capture allowed planners and officers to review the site remotely, saving them a significant amount of time. By using this technology, they were able to design a scheme based on the latest real-world context. Planners were also able to measure hedge and tree heights, which informed their understanding of the sunlight angle's impact on solar panels and what trimming would be necessary. Contour levels produced an accurate lay of the land, providing stakeholders with a clear picture of the site's topography. In addition to the 3D capture, an aerial photo survey was conducted, which photographed the site in detail. This allowed planners to review the hedge and other vegetation that could impact the scheme design. The photos were also used as pre-development marketing assets to promote the project. A before-and-after comparison of the site's development was created using these aerial photos, providing a valuable reference for future use. Furthermore, live-streamed drone video of the site enabled real-time consultation with all consultants involved in the project. The comprehensive data generated from this single survey saved planners and stakeholders a significant amount of time and budget.
