North Horn Conglomerate

The North Horn Formation spans from the Late Cretaceous to the Early Tertiary period, with evidence emerging from the "Red Narrows" of Spanish Forks Canyon, Utah. Rounded gravel clasts found in this region are likely composed of Oquirrh quartzite. Upon closer inspection, however, it becomes clear that the matrix is quite fascinating. Zooming in for a better look reveals an intriguing complexity.
