The P-51 Mustang was a single-seat World War II fighter aircraft designed by North American Aviation. First flown with the RAF as a fighter-bomber and reconnaissance plane, it later served as a bomber escort in raids over Germany, contributing to Allied air superiority from 1944. Used by Allied forces in Europe, it also saw limited action against the Japanese in the Pacific War. The Mustang began the Korean War as the main UN fighter but was relegated to ground attack roles due to the arrival of jet fighters. Despite this, it remained in service with some air forces until the early 1980s. Notable pilot Colonel John Landers achieved "ace" status in both Pacific and European Theatres. Serving with the 49th Fighter Group in the Pacific, he flew P-40s and achieved six victories against the Japanese. In 1944, Landers was sent to Europe where he joined the 55th Fighter Group (38th Fighter Squadron) based in Duxford, England. He was credited with five more victories during this tour, bringing his total to 11. Later, he became Commanding Officer of the 38th Squadron in mid-1944. Landers flew with several units, including 78th, 357th, and 361st, all flying P-38s and P-51s named "Big Beautiful Doll." He ended his flying career with 14.5 victories, 4.5 of which and an additional 20 ground victories were achieved in P-51s. The model includes 21 textures, two materials, and one alpha map. It features both a flying and standing version, requiring no cleaning up before rendering. The scene does not require any special plugins to open and is modelled in cinema4D 9.5 for detailed close-up renders.
