F51B was built very near to scale and is fully textured. Many features are animateable including ailerons, flaps, rudder, elevators, main and tail landing gear and doors, propeller, and the cockpit canopy opens. The engine, cowlings, mounts, instrument panel, controls, seat, radio equipment and other features are modeled. Gauges and instruments are not modeled but are in textures. It is provided in different model formats. Edgar Schmud designed the first P-51 NA-73 for North American Aircraft in an attempt to win a large contract for the RAF. RAF purchased and operated 308 P-51Bs. 1988 P-51B-s were built, first production version to be equipped with the Merlin engine They were flown by the US Army Air Force, Royal Air Force, Chinese Air Force, and the Royal Australian Air Force. These aircraft saw service with the USAF until after the Korean War and with other nations and ANG units until the 1960s. Many are still flying and racing around the world.
