It served as both a trainer and ground support attack aircraft for various military forces during World War II, including the Army Air Forces, Navy, Marines and other allied nations. The armed version typically featured two 30-caliber machine guns mounted in the nose of the cockpit, along with one or two more machine guns positioned in the rearward-facing gunner's seat. These aircraft were sold as surplus to civilian pilots after World War II and were used for training purposes, aerobatic performances and air show displays. Today, the AT-6 and T-6 are owned by private individuals who have lovingly restored them to their former glory.
