Norman Window Blinds - Battery Clip
thingiverse
This is a remix of "Car sun blind retainer clip" by artichoke273, item 3679265, originally posted June 08, 2019. My base is shorter, wider and has a screw hole. The ends are squared off (the original was trapezoidal). The legs are longer and have small gussets where they join the base. This is not a criticism of the original design. It's intended for an entirely different purpose. My remix is to adapt it for something else. This clip, as modified, is intended to mount the tubular battery box for Norman powered window blinds. The box contains 8 AA batteries and is fairly heavy. The clips can probably be used with any tubular AA battery holder. The OD of the Norman battery holder is 18 mm. The original clips supplied with the blinds (completely different design) have begun to fail after several years, probably from UV exposure, so a replacement was needed. The new clips are easier to use than the originals and can be mounted in any orientation. A pair are tight enough to support the battery box inverted, i.e. ceiling mounted, if required. I made these from PLA. The mounting hole is 5 mm and is countersunk for a flat head screw. A 4 mm metric screw or a #8 or #10 Imperial should fit nicely. I printed mine with a 1.2 mm shell and 16% infill, both of which are probably excessive.
