Normal Distribution with Mean and Standard Deviation Markers
thingiverse
This was originally marked as a work in progress however the design has been completely overhauled and can be found in the Remixed section or at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1463604 I also spent some time tinkering with NetFabb and simplified the design to make it cleaner (and I believe I got rid of the weird separation thing on the bottom). So there's a new .stl file that I highly recommend trying if you're printing this model. Although I'd still suggest one of my other designs. Apparently this model has a hole in the bottom... I will try to fix it. This is actually just a prototype; I'm still working on perfecting the model and making more to help demonstrate different concepts, but there's an issue where it prints kind of poorly on the bottom. I originally designed this to assist with teaching visually impaired individuals basic statistics, and the idea of the normal distribution as it is normally taught. Post-Printing This has been scaled up but I don't remember the exact scale at the moment. I'll update when I do. The print shows the bottom of the model. I think when I was smoothing it out I accidentally did a cut with I started with the normal distribution model by ayoung. I removed the numbers and placed all the pieces together in a Chrome app called Design Something. Then I added divisive markers where the standard deviations are (although one of them, the +1s or +2s, is a bit off).
