Non-Specific Crustacean Washer

A friend complained about a commercially available product for washing various food products (think fresh vegetables, crawfish, shrimp, etc) prior to boiling them. The complaint? It retails around $80 and, with the exception of the sprayer, is nothing more than a big ass bucket with two holes drilled in it, a couple of brass fittings and a logo. Don't get me wrong, I am not down on brand names or logos and if you don't mind the price tag and want to go brand-legit, by all means, go ahead. I think Louis Vuitton or Prada probably offer items that can be used to wash crawfish in...at the very least they could be used as strainers. Kate Spade at least offers this. But if you're frugal (read: unashamedly cheap), can live without the logo, and have a bucket then we got you covered. ** The following links are intended as examples. You're here because you are frugal, remember? Shop around, cannibalize your wife's gardening supplies, steal from your neighbors or find a cheaper price. ** You Will Need: - Access to a 3D printer or a really good friend with one who also likes crawfish. - Bucket of your choice. Typically it is a 17gal but really any bucket that is at least 10" tall/deep, you should be good. Round is recommended. - Two 3/4" holes drilled in the side of said bucket some distance apart. Recommend between 90 and 180 degrees of separation. See example picture. One is for the inlet (hose water to assembly) and the other is for drainage of dirty water. - 1/2" NPT (F) to 3/4" NH (F) - Double Female - Something like this. - Some method of closing the drain side while the bucket fills up. It can be as simple as cork or bung or as fancy as brass fittings. Optional - You might want to grab some Garden Hose Rubber Ring/Seals for the fittings into and out of the holes in the bucket.
