Non-Disposable Rocket
thingiverse
I upgraded the Disposable Rocket to make it REUSABLE. The original files for the nosecone and fin wouldn't fit in my 18mm engine no matter how much I pushed, so I enlarged them a few tenths of mm. I added a payload module that holds a streamer. I added a loop on the fins to secure the rubber band. I also put a bar across the nosecone to secure the other end of the rubber band. Here's what you need: 1 large or 2 smaller rubber bands About 10" x 1/2 or 5/8" crepe paper or mylar for a streamer (I'm using a strip of mylar from one of those space blankets) 2-3 pieces of model rocket recovery wadding Here's how to assemble it: Cut the rubber band(s) and tie them together if they're too short. Push the rubber band through the small loop on the fins and tie a knot at the end. Alternatively, just tie it to the loop. Insert the rubber band into the hole in the payload section from the outside in. Tie the streamer onto the rubber band about 2 inches from the end. Use the remaining inch or so of rubber band to tie it to the bar on the nosecone. Fold up the streamer and make a pouch out of the recover wadding. Insert the streamer into the pouch, then insert the pouch into the payload section. Push the remaining length of rubber band into the nosecone. Close everything up and make sure the launch lugs are lined up.
