Non-clogging Sink Strainer
myminifactory
Here is my version of a non-clogging sink strainer designed specifically for kitchen sinks. After becoming dissatisfied with my current strainer due to several issues, I decided to create a new one that would address these problems: ordinary strainers tend to clog when too much food or waste material gets trapped in the sieve; water flow is also compromised when the water volume is excessive, causing it to churn out instead of flowing smoothly; and cleaning the strainer can be a messy task. To overcome these issues, I designed my new strainer with several key features: a dual-trap system featuring both horizontal and vertical traps with the sieve running in both directions, which allows water to flow even when the horizontal trap is full; a "snorkel" that enables air to escape from the waste pipe, resulting in clean water flow; and a handle integrated into the snorkel, making it easy to spin the strainer and fling waste off into a bin or plastic bag. I have multiple versions of the strainer under development, primarily focusing on varying the size of the sieve, which I will upload as they become available. Printing this design is relatively straightforward; however, I recommend using materials that can withstand high temperatures, such as Taulman T-Glase, with settings like 0.2mm layer heights, 2 perimeters, and a 50% infill for optimal results.
