May 15th, 2015 update: The Nomad UAV's file, NomadUAV_MkI.zip, was added with the original 3D Max scene file containing all components. This is the first ready-to-fly version of the plane; download its STL files to print your own. The inverted V-tail was replaced with a normal one for the printed version due to ground clearance concerns during landing. An OBJ file with the original mesh for each part is also included, enabling modifications or new designs. Check the original STL files for reference before subdividing parts. The Nomad UAV is a small travel drone/FPV plane with a wingspan of nearly one meter. After testing and completion, a 30-50% larger version will be made to accommodate a GoPro camera for aerial photography. The modular design includes interchangeable nose and tail sections, detachable wings and stabilizers, and separable wing panels for repair and idea testing. Printing instructions: Use a 0.3mm nozzle and adjust perimeters accordingly. Wings should be printed in spiral vase mode with one perimeter thickness (0.2mm works well), while fuselage parts require two perimeter shells except for thicker areas. The Fuselage_F STL mesh needs to be printed solid or as a 0% infill with two 0.3mm perimeters and no top/bottom layers. The Nomad UAV bill of materials includes components from HobbyKing.com, which can be replaced with similar items. These include elevon servos, flaperon servos, a motor, ESC, battery, R/C receiver, pushrod link components, clevises, propellers, M3 nylon screws and nuts, carbon fiber tubes for spars and hinge rods, and glass fiber cloth for reinforcing the fuselage nose section.
