Mounting a Sena 10S to a Nolan N87 without reaching for the 3M double-sided tapeThe Nolan N87 has a quite elaborate outer shape and no allowance to mount a Sena 10S in any sane manner with the provided Brackets. This Adapter fits the existing N-Com Mounts under the Plastic Rim.Changelog2023-07-27After an involuntary Drop-Test, the Bracket broke on the Inner SideThe Bracket was widened to 4 mm Everything will fit together, but the inside of the Shell Cutout will be bent a bit to make Space for the extra MillimeterTwo (optional) M2.5x20 Screws were added for superior stiffnessFitting was bettered by shortening the Arm Length and inching closer to the perfect AngleUse at your own discretionIf printed in PETG, it should last a fair while and during 1100 km of driving over winding mountain passes, city stop-n-go, and highways, I couldn't feel any negative effects I'd attribute to the bracket. No vibrations, no wind noise, wasn't in the way at all. If anything, it kept me from accidentally bumping the Ringdial button while fumbling for the sun visor.Without a windshield and at higher speeds, It probably is noticeable. There might be additional danger involved when using this bracket, but so is driving in shorts and flip-flops.PrintingPrint in PETG (Prusa Orange Prusament shown in Pictures) with any Settings you choose. I went with the 0.20 Quality Setting.Use “Place on Face” and set it on the lower surfaces.Turn on “Support on build plate only”. It will print without it, but the edges will fray. I advise on placing some Support Blockers to keep it out of the regions that will print fine without them:MountingDisassemble your Nolan N87 as per the Instruction Manual. Take of N-Com Plastic Rim and find the left square cut out.The mount will not fit on the right side, and your Sena would be the wrong way around anyway.Remove the Clip from the cutout in the Plastic Rim to make space for the Bracket.Push the Bracket onto the Detent on the Helmet Shell.Slip the N-Com Plastic Rim into its Pocket, where it Meets the Front Flexible PartPush gently down and forward to secure it in PlacePut in the Screw at the Back of the Helmet to secure the N-Com Plastic Rim and the Bracket with itMount your Sena 10S with the Screws and Washers it came withThe N-Com Plastic Rim is quite forgiving, but will break if you are rough.Everything will seat completely and there should be (almost) no tension on the Plastic Rim.Frequently Asked QuestionsWhy is there a Space between Sena and Helmet? There is no good way in which the Surface of the Sena and Helmet align wellThe only way they align at all puts the Sena at a weird angle that shoves the bottom of the Bracket too close to my throat for comfortDoesn't create an Overhang inside the PartWhat can I do when the Bracket breaks?Have a Spare on youThe remaining Clip is strong enough to secure the Sena 10S to the Brim of your Motorcycle Jacket. I rode 1,000 km like that. Wasn't fun, but worked.
