Noise reducing props!

I discovered an article about constructing a silent horn at this link: http://www.geekologie.com/2010/02/impressive-building-a-silent-h.php, which made me wonder if the concept could be applied on a smaller scale. I attempted to create some and would appreciate any feedback on their noise reduction capabilities; these are 9x4.5 with a 6mm center hole. Thank you for your assistance!
