Noctural Star Dial
thingiverse
The current design is a work in progress, so feel free to improve its readability and appeal while maintaining structural integrity. I'll print it this weekend for evaluation. Mounting options are yet to be determined; threaded hollow rods and nuts or 3D-printed alternatives could be considered. This Star Dial helps tell time at night without a watch, similar to ancient methods but with Northern Hemisphere limitations. To use, hold it with JD on top, align the center with the North Star, adjust the outer dial using Big Dipper's stars, and read the time from the dial. Design instructions were derived from a paper Star Dial tutorial (http://www.ehow.com/how_12003496_make-nocturnal-stardial.html).
