Noctua NF-A4x20 5V PWM fan support for Jetson nano
thingiverse
Hello, The Nvidia jetson nano developer kit is delivered with a large heatsink that keeps the Nano compatible with his thermal limits. Sometimes, when GPU has intensive loads or the environment is hot like in summer, heatsink is not enough and becomes very warm… If the thermal limit is reached, the system will reduce the clock speed on the CPU and the GPU to decrease the global thermal heat. This safety mechanism is called “thermal throttling”: the result of this is you are getting a colder system but a slower too. This safety mechanism exists for Intel CPU, Raspberry Pi CPU and maybe your graphical video card. For this reason, it can be useful to add a fan in order to remove the heat or force a fresh air on the heatsink. Please note that a fan is not mandatory to play with Jetson nano. Nvidia has anticipated this need to add a fan on the heatsink with 4 pre-holes drilled at the factory. It is very smart because, according if you are in metric or US thread, you will use the pre-holes drilled at 2.60mm as starting point. If you are threading the pre-holes, make sure to remove properly the metal dust! On my case, I did not want to thread the pre-holes or modify in any case the heatsink. I tested the one present at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3976216 without success because the corner and shape were not compatibles with Noctua NF-A4x20 5V PWM fan. - The Noctua is more a 40mm x 40mm square and corner are right - I wanted that support to resist at high acceleration and vibration - I am looking for a design that use the Noctua’s silicon integrated anti-vibration pads - The support shall work in air extraction or forced air mode according what you are looking for - A support that fits Noctua NF-A4x20 5V, Noctua NF-A4x20 5V PWM and maybe Noctua NF-A4x10 5V or Noctua NF-A4x10 5V PWM fan. So, I designed this one When slicing I used: Layer Height = 0.16mm Infill = 20% Speed = 50.0 mm/s Fan Speed = 100% Support Placement = Touching Buildplate Build Plate Adhesion Type = Skirt Have a read to this topic if you are owning the PWM version of the Noctua fan: https://github.com/Pyrestone/jetson-fan-ctl Enjoy and have fun with your Nano
