Noctua 4020 using stock screws Wanhao Di3
thingiverse
The stock fan is loud and its bearings wear out rapidly. I swapped the standard 4010 fan for a Noctua 4020 and wanted to use the original screws, so I printed spacers in PETG. They work fine if you don't overtighten the screws. To reuse the stock screws, you need to drill two holes to allow the screw head to pass through (only the outer holes). Use a 6mm drill bit to carefully drill out the two outer holes where the screws are inserted. I also secured the fan cable with zip-ties as shown in the image. ***Note:*** There should be just enough clearance to install the 20mm thick fan without colliding with the frame during X-axis homing. If you don't have sufficient space, loosen the two screws holding the cold-block and adjust its position slightly. The screw is a M3*37mm type. The spacers are 3.6mm thick.
