Noble Tomb - 3d model and lighting design
sketchfab
This is my crowning achievement, crafted solely for this contest. I'm beaming with pride about it. I captured 583 pictures in RAW format using only my trusty G80. The initial mesh boasted an astonishing 20 million polygons. Next, I reduced that number to a manageable 5 million by decimating the model. Then, I pinpointed the flat surfaces and optimized their topology within the filters panel. After that, I decimated it once more until I reached my target of 470K polygons. I proceeded to project the texture and upload it to Sketchfab. I then exported both high-poly and low-poly meshes into XNormal, resulting in a stunning 8K normal map. I uploaded this masterpiece to Sketchfab and began designing the lighting effects. A vibrant violet beam at a 30-degree angle from the right of the Tomb draws attention to the veiled woman and the towering statue. A cool blue beam from the left at a 50-degree angle highlights the Count and the praying figures, including the tallest one. Above it all, I added a directional light that simulates the moon's soft, desaturated glow. I highly recommend exploring both the final render and the diffuse map to appreciate this work of art in its entirety!
