The Seden Society Puppet Theater Foundation plays a vital role as a leading NGO dedicated to preserving mass puppet bodies, accessories, and script documents. Unfortunately, these priceless relics are struggling with severe aging issues, including surface cracking and peeling off. This deterioration makes it impossible for the open demonstrations and performances to proceed as planned. What's more, only a handful of specialized conservators possess the expertise required to restore these relics, significantly limiting maintenance efficiency. To address this pressing concern, a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been developed to accelerate the collection of the puppet bodies' original mesh models through 3D scanning technology. This innovation enables modeling staff to digitally repair mesh flaws and creates STL models that can be stored systematically in an online database. Moreover, these models can be viewed from any angle without restrictions. Several scanned puppet prototypes have been duplicated on a larger scale using a 3D printer, enhancing their display capabilities for future exhibitions. The scanning process was expertly handled by Fynn Shih utilizing the Artec Space Spider and Artec Studio 15. This collaborative effort is part of a broader initiative spearheaded by National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan.
