No Mans Sky/NMS T3 Fighter Toy Kit
thingiverse
A bit back, I embarked on a quest for No Man's Sky models to print out since I was thoroughly enjoying the game. There were very few available so I decided to create some of my own ships. I built a T3 Explorer first as a standalone model and will be publishing it soon. It just needs a few tweaks. As I was building my T3 Fighter, I realized I could apply the same logic as the game and make parts interchangeable so that's exactly what I did. It took an absurd amount of hours to do it all since I was building it entirely by visual means and having to modify on the fly to make it printable. If you notice any major deviations (like the side engines in the back), it is solely due to making it printable without unmanageable supports. Please note that there is a "shark fin" version of both the Barrel and Needle cockpits. I have printed everything multiple times with slight tweaks each time to get it as perfect and "shelf worthy" as possible. Everything will print on a 200 mm bed (the Needle Nose is 198 mm so bring your skirts in tight.) The Barrel Nose and Needle Nose are designed to lock the fancy curved wings in by use of a collar that slides around the engine mount of the core of the fighter. Depending on how well-tuned your printer is, you might need to sand down some of the insert elements very slightly. Most of the models in the final two images are at 0.1 mm LH but the body on the right is at 0.2 mm LH if you want to compare looks. I prefer the 0.1 mm LH but you're looking at a 26+ hour print (at least at the speeds I print). I am mostly done for now, but if I get a reasonable level of donations for this, I will continue and finish a few more of the cockpit designs as well as the last wing configuration. There are a few more engine designs I can do as well. Once that is done, I was thinking of doing either a hauler or fully completing the T3 Explorer. I am mainly sticking to T3 designs because that's what I think the majority of the player base uses and trying to do everything would take months and months of modeling time.
