No-hob extruder

thingiverse

This extruder design uses a Dremel bit #196 as the hobbed component, creating sharp edges for strong gripping. Required hardware includes a dremel bit, m3x25 screws, m3 washers, m4 nuts, 20mm threaded rod, 608 bearing, r2zz bearings, nema 17 stepper motor, and STL files. Print the main block, idler, large gear, and small gear, ensuring holes are drilled correctly. Prepare the Dremel bit by flattening its end and, if necessary, filing the motor shaft flat. Mount the small gear on the motor, placing an m3 nut in the slot to secure it. Attach the motor to the base with three 10mm screws, without tightening yet. For the large gear, insert two m3 nuts into its nut traps and fasten set screws. Place a washer on the Dremel shank and align it with the gears. Insert the large gear onto the Dremel bit and tighten the set screws. Adjust the motor and tighten all parts securely. Assemble the idler by placing an 608 bearing on a 20mm threaded rod and inserting it into the idler. Fasten an m4 nut in the top nut trap, followed by springs or rubber washers, then screw in the m4x50 screw. In your firmware, set steps per mm to 1939 for optimal performance with a 200 step motor and 32 microsteps.
