Edited June 24, 2018 Added Spool Flange. Suits spools with 57mm bore diameter, utilizing a 20mm dia PVC pipe as axle. There are over 5,000 Spool Holders on Thingiverse, making it impossible to select a suitable one due to extremely brief descriptions. Essential dimensions must be downloaded from the files to get the information needed. This holder is designed to bolt onto the top rail of an I3 style 3D Printer. It provides the bare essentials and can accommodate spools up to 200mm in diameter by 65 wide. The base measures only 95mm wide x 30mm deep, while standing at a height of 140mm with a 5mm thick base and sides. Ribs add strength and conserve material and printing time. It is designed to sit at an approximate 30-degree angle on the top rail, aligning the extruder on the same axis as the left-hand upright (see photo). I have uploaded the latest version files that incorporate improvements based on trials with the initial prototype. A 16mm ID x 65 long PVC pipe supports the spool, which is held in place by two end caps and an M6 bolt and nut.
