NMR tube cutter

A simple NMR tube cutting aid was designed to shorten NMR tubes filled under protective gas, allowing access to or retrieval of crystals near the bottom. This device fits through a NS29 ground glass connection to maintain the protective atmosphere and also works with our muCHILL inert microscopy cold stage as shown in the pictures (published here: https://journals.iucr.org/j/issues/2018/02/00/gj5200/gj5200.pdf).\r\nOne M2x12 screw and M2 nut are required for assembly.\r\n\r\nUsage:\r\n1. Start by scoring the NMR tube all-around, using a glass cutter. Make sure to prevent solvent from spilling upon cutting.\r\n2. Place the NMR tube in the tool, aligning the score mark with the line on the tool (red arrows).\r\n Note: The tool will hold the tube, but press only very gently!\r\n3. Transfer the NMR tube to a Schlenk vessel or other target platform (optional).\r\n4. Slightly increase pressure until it snaps.\r\n5. Remove the tool with the upper piece, noting that the tube part below the cut is loose and can freely detach. The tool will grip the upper piece.
