<p>A simple NMR tube cutting aid. This was designed to shorten NMR tubes filled under protective gas (to access/retrieve crystals near the bottom). The whole thing fits through a NS29 ground glass connection to maintain the protective atmosphere and also works with our muCHILL inert microscopy cold stage as shown in the pictures (published here: <a href="https://journals.iucr.org/j/issues/2018/02/00/gj5200/gj5200.pdf">https://journals.iucr.org/j/issues/2018/02/00/gj5200/gj5200.pdf</a>).<br/> One M2x12 screw and M2 nut needed for assembly.</p> <p>Usage:</p> <ol> <li>Start by scoring the NMR tube all-around, using a glass cutter. Make sure you will not spill solvent upon cutting.</li> <li>Place NMR tube in tool, align score mark with line on tool (red arrows).<br/> Note: the tool will hold the tube, but press only VERY GENTLY!</li> <li>Transfer to Schlenk vessel or other target platform (optional).</li> <li>Slightly increase pressure until it snaps.</li> <li>Remove tool with upper piece, note that the tube part below the cut is loose and can freely detach. The tool will grip the upper piece.</li> </ol> Category: Hand Tools
