Niño Jesús Dormido
sketchfab
Work of the University of Granada. This piece captures a typical baroque iconographic type often found in feminine closures and popular devotion, where the human element is emphasized, reflecting the warmth and innocence of the sleeping child peacefully. It is depicted as plump and rosy-cheeked, with one hand on its mouth and the other arm extended. Its accurate modeling shows clear Granadian accents with solutions close to Pedro de Mena that are reflected in the clean cranial profile, drawn eyes and eyebrows, soft flesh, and a clear polychrome matized with subtle pink veils and fine blonde locks. The figure's arrangement invites one to think of an isolated composition rather than as part of a Nativity to which it had been associated until 2006. Scanned in 3D in the year 2010 by the Backup3D service for the Virtual Portal of Heritage of Andalusian Universities.
