Nixie Tube Filadometer Filament Meter
thingiverse
This is a Nixie Tube Filament Meter designed for my Original Prusa I3 Mk3 printer. The project demands substantial electronic assembly work. A detailed write-up on my website includes schematics, and a github repository offers python source code. If you're interested in building these meters, please let me know and I'll create a BOM and other necessary resources. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOxS5r9-TeI Nixie Tubes were widely used during the 1960s. They're a high-voltage gas technology that operates at approximately 170 volts DC. Each tube features ten numerals, any of which can be illuminated by grounding the corresponding numeral. My project utilizes K155 driver ICs in conjunction with a raspberry pi to monitor octoprint and display filament usage and print progress. The clips required for the Prusa Frame might need some filing on the lower lip to ensure a proper fit. I had to add a bit more material to that lip than intended. These clips originated from Chrlee's Prusa bearing spool holder design.
