Nissan Versa glove compartment latch mechanism
thingiverse
I own a 2011 Nissan Versa SL, and one day I realized I couldn't open the glove compartment because the handle was broken. After doing some research online and making a few phone calls, I discovered that replacing the entire glove compartment door would cost over $100 and require a single part that only costs 50 cents. I found instructions on how to open the glove compartment. A. With a flathead screwdriver, carefully pry off the handle from the side. B. Push down into the notch to release the retention mechanism and open the glove compartment. C. There are two Philips head screws holding the mechanism in place. D. The "nub" on the spring mechanisms is fragile and breaks over time. I found a YouTube video that shows how to open the glove compartment: https://youtu.be/YQoSXJdJF3g. A YouTuber also posted a helpful video on how to do it: https://youtu.be/mhRDDm4y7fU. Print Settings: * Printer Brand: RepRap * Printer: Prusa Wilson * Rafts: No * Supports: Yes * Resolution: 200 * Infill: 100 Notes: Orient the part vertically and enable support structures for the latch stand-off and the spring insert. The part was sliced in Cura at 200 um resolution with 100% infill in ABS. Post-Printing: Cleaning up the print involves removing any excess support material from the printed part. Drill out the spring site to remove any remaining support material, then sand the top of the part (preferably with a Dremel) to ensure a proper fit into the latch mechanism. I vapor polished the part for 45 seconds after sufficient sanding. How I Designed This: I designed this part in Autodesk Inventor.
