Nissan Leaf ZE1 Robust Dashboard Smartphone Mount

I wanted a robust smartphone mount, which places the phone between the dashboard and the infotainment display in a nissan leaf ZE1. I couldn't find one so I designed this thing. This should fit all nissan leaf models from 2018 to 2022 independant of the trim. What you need for assembly: - The two printed parts (base part and smartphone mount) - A piece of black insulated copper wire (710 mm (28"), 1.5 mm² (15 AWG)). - For fastening: two M4x30mm, three M4x15mm and optionally one M3x10mm bolts The base of this mount is tied to the left side of the infotainment screen by running a solid core copper wire (1.5 mm²) behind the bezel of the screen in a C-shape. The wire forms an eyelet at each end and gets screwed into the printed base part by two M4 bolts. The wire gets tightened up until it sounds like a guitar string. This way the base part is pretty solidly pressed to the screen and fits snugly against the curved surface of the dash. The length of the wire is critical, as the travel of the M4 bolts for tightning is only 15mm on each side. I used a wire length of 710 mm including the length needed to form the eyelets on each end. After mounting the base part, the smartphone-specific part is mounted on top. Three M4-threaded holes are available, so you can design a mount for your own phone. In this case, this part is designed for a LG V30 phone with a TPU case. With slight padding, this also fits for a caseless S22+. The STEP-File of this mount is attached, so you can easily modify it. After the assembly of all printed parts, insert the USB type C plug into the phone mount. This design uses a Delock Easy USB angled plug which clips / press fits into place. It can be clamped down optionally using a M3 bolt. The cable can be pressed into the dedicated slot on the left side of the base part and tidily run down to the leafs USB port. Avoid printing the parts in PLA as it will soften if left in the car on hot summer days. Use PETG (recommended) or ABS. Print the smartphone mount flat as is. Print the base part so that the cable slot is on the bottom facing the build plate. Use support to improve the filets near the build plate. Avoid support inside the cable slot though.
