If you purchase a pre-owned Leaf from Japan, it likely comes equipped with an original Nissan LEAF EVSE, rated for an input voltage of 200VAC. However, if you reside in a country with 240 VAC mains power, this can create issues. The transformer that powers the control chips within the EVSE charging cable box will operate at 20% above its nominal rating. Prolonged operation under these conditions will inevitably lead to premature failure.
