Nissan LEAF 2011-2012 charge port release
thingiverse
This is a replacement part for the Nissan LEAF electric vehicle model years 2011-2012. The original lever is extremely delicate and can be easily damaged by a simple mishap, such as being kicked with a shoe. It also tends to break down quickly when subjected to freezing temperatures. Purchasing a new one can cost up to 120€ in Finland, but it comes complete with an assembly including cables, metal parts, and the hood release lever - far from eco-friendly. This part is designed for left-hand drive cars; if you have a right-hand drive car, be sure to mirror the design along its width before printing to ensure a proper fit. I printed one in PLA back in February 2016, and as of August 2017, it's still working flawlessly, much more durable than the original lever. Post-Printing Instructions: Cut away the small support from where the cable enters the printed part. Carefully disconnect the cables from the levers on the car. Use pliers to squeeze the metal rod that locks the levers in place and then pull it out. Replace the charge port lever with the printed one and reinstall the rod. Verify that the lever springs are correctly installed. Widen the end of the metal rod using pliers or a screwdriver and mallet so it stays securely in place. Reinstall everything back into the car.
