Nissan junior ( 1970 )

The 140 series Junior, which combined the Junior and Miler lines, was launched in October 1970. Despite being more modern than the 41-series, sales were disappointing, leading Nissan to halt exports outside Asia. The car was sold at Prince dealerships and also known as Nissan Miler. This generation of Junior had three motors: a 99 PS (73 kW) two-liter petrol version (H20), a 1.6-liter petrol variant, and a 60 PS (44 kW) diesel (SD22). All were four-cylinder engines with two valves per cylinder. The smallest model (N140) had a 1.5 t (3,300 lb) rating, while the two-liter 140-series models were available as either a 1.75 or 2.0 t (3,850 or 4,400 lb) model. In 1974, an improved version, the 141, was introduced to meet 1975 exhaust emission standards; the 1.6-liter engine was discontinued, and the H20 now produced 92 PS (68 kW). However, sales in this segment declined as the eighties approached, and the Junior was cancelled without a successor in 1982. In 1970, Zamyad Co. in Tehran, Iran, began producing the 2.0-liter models under license, while production later moved to SAIPA Co. and then back to Zamyad Co., where Nissan Junior is still being produced today. Zamyad continues to use the Z24 Nissan engine and 2.8-liter diesel engines, and also produces a rebodied version of the Z24 called the Shooka.
