Nintendo Switch Vangard Grip (V2.1)
thingiverse
This is a custom joycon comfort grip for the Nintendo Switch that's been designed to make the overall controller layout more similar to a standard controller by tilting the joycon rails outward by 20 degrees. The design has been separated out into three pieces to make printing and finishing easier, while also making it more customizable with different parts. I've updated the rail design to be more accurate and added smaller crests so that tighter configurations can be used. I've also made multiple variants for the rail piece to highlight the customizability of this design, including versions at 20 degrees, 10 degrees, zero degrees, negative 10 degrees, and negative 20 degrees. The grip itself has been updated to be more sturdy and sit evenly when put down. It's fully compatible with all the mentioned rail parts, but not all combinations have been tested for comfort yet. More handle versions will be added in the future to address this issue. These custom grips are not compatible with earlier prototype versions and can't be used interchangeably. I encourage everyone to remix this design with their own pieces or suggest new ideas they'd like to see implemented. Print Settings: Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: .3 mm Infill: 10-15% Notes: Print all three parts standing upright for better strength and a smoother docking experience. You'll need at least one rail piece, one grip piece, and one crest piece to assemble the custom grip. Post-Printing: FINISHING: Sanding is essential to smooth out the rails where they contact the joycons for a better fit. Sanding the rest can also improve overall smoothness, and painting can give it a more polished look. If you choose to paint the rail section, make sure to mask off the sides where the Joycons slide in and out to prevent paint rub-off and added thickness. ASSEMBLY: This custom grip is designed to be held together with two M3 0.5 nuts and two M3 0.5 screws, 13-16 mm long. However, it can also be glued together or printed as one piece by tweaking the files slightly. STEP 1: Insert two M3 0.5 nuts into the slots on the crest piece, aligning them with the holes on the back. STEP 2: Fit the crest and grip into the slot on the rail section. STEP 3: Insert two M3 0.5 screws into the holes on the back and screw them into place.
