Some weeks ago I noticed you can now buy USB PB to DC adapter boards.This boards has USB Type C PD on one side and empty solder pads on the other side and can be set to output a constant voltage bridging a pad on the PCB: I bought a couple of them and as usual, with a new hammer, I needed a nail. I have been planning to keep my second Nintendo Game Cube in the studio recently, is beaten up and I had to repair it a couple of times, I don't have a second power supply and my main GC is under the TV, with all the cable connected, curiosly, the voltage input of the Game Cube is 12v, so, as it seems, I did found a nail. I set on a quest to design my own plug: it took me 10 iterations but the last one fits perfectly: And the inside looks something like this : The instruction varies from PCB to PCB but, ideally, you want some T H I C C cable going from the plug to the USB board and then push it inside the 3D printed plug, mine is pressure fit, some glue will help if yours is mofing around. REMEBER TO SET THE VOLTAGE! It's 12 Volt, check it before powering your Game Cube. Power consumption is interesting, the Game Cube is rated for 39W but I never saw it exceeding 25W, I immagine, if you have a broadband adapter and a Game Boy Player you might end up consuming more but seems like this was mostly designed for expandability in mind.
