As an N64 collector, modder, or import game enthusiast, you know that Japanese games on NTSC systems (or vice versa) require cartridge slot modifications for playback compatibility. I've experienced it firsthand - a procedure I'm sure many of us can relate to, albeit reluctantly so. And, yes, let's face it; cutting the plastic is an unappealing process that may also carry a risk of personal injury. Given these considerations, I designed this simple, user-friendly replacement cartridge slot. Just remove your existing cartridge slot and replace it with this new part - simplicity itself! If you don't have access to a 3D printer, you can obtain the required prints through Shapeways at http://shpws.me/wprv. Instructions: 1) For precise dimensions on Shapeways, I had to set the measurements in meters. It's uncertain whether this applies to your own 3D printing process; please check your software documentation for details. 2) Installation is straightforward: Remove the N64 console's top casing, then carefully extract the original cartridge slot by undoing any fasteners securing it. Finally, simply replace it with our replacement part. The cartridge slot is an accurate replica of its original counterpart. The only variance lies in dimensions, which might be affected due to my limitations working with a ruler instead of calipers. As such, I'm classifying this item as 'work-in-progress'. To create the design, I utilised Blender software, employing basic geometry and solidification tools: Firstly, adding planes; secondly, extruding them a few times; thirdly applying the boolean modifier for screw parts and hole functionality.
