Nintendo 64 Logo LED Neon Sign

This channel is designed to constrain 5mm LED "neon" tape light into the shape of the classic Nintendo 64 logo.

The base is designed in two parts — a lid to mount the finished "neon" sign and rotary variable resistor, and a shell with screwbeds for mounting the HiLetGo PWM LED Dimmer with a JST connector to interface with a 12VDC 2A power supply.

I used a bus bar-style wiring scheme to supply power to the LED segments, and would strongly suggest the same to anyone wishing to replicate this project. To insulate the conductors along the bus where the wire jacket was removed for soldering, I used hot glue. It isn't pretty, but it also isn't visible, so I think it looks all right.

From design to completion, this probably took a week of my time — collectively. I learned a lot about what works when designing for this style of LED tape, so I may make a YouTube video at some point to walk through the process. If there's interest, please let me know.

It should go without saying that If you don't know what you're doing with a soldering iron or don't understand the basic fundamentals of DC electricity, you shouldn't try to make this project. Incorrect use of a soldering iron or incorrect wiring could easily result in injury or lead to a fire.

*No warranty of safety or liability is offered with this design. If you choose to make it, you do soat your own risk.***
Category: Signs & Logos
